2017 AEA Professional Rights and Responsibilities (PR&R) Conference
April 7 - April 8
Yes, that is correct! After careful consideration and input from all of you, the Legal Department has decided to revamp our approach to this already popular and well-attended conference. Starting this year, we are going “back to the basics” to ensure that you receive pertinent information that is relevant from your first day on the job through your last day on the job.
This year’s sessions will include the following topics: Effective Classroom Management, School Safety – Run/Fight/Hide, Things You Should Know, But are Afraid to Ask – From an Administrator’s Prospective, and Outsourcing Substitute Teachers and Paraprofessionals…just to name a few. All sessions will be presented by seasoned professionals from the AEA staff, the AEA local officers, the State Department of Education, the Alabama Department of Human Resources, and AEA administrators/teachers/support staff from around the state. We want this conference to be for YOU, about YOU, and presented by YOU!
Please note that we have also changed the venue. The host site for this year’s conference will be the Embassy Suites by Hilton Montgomery Hotel and Conference Center, 300 Tallapoosa Street, Montgomery, AL 36106. On-site registration will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the main lobby at the hotel. The opening session will start at 6:00 p.m. with a plated dinner followed by a social event. The conference will continue on Saturday with a full breakfast buffet, workshops beginning at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude with a luncheon. We are very excited about the changes we have implemented and hope that all of you will join us on April 7-8, 2017, to take advantage of this great opportunity.
