Association of Classroom Teachers

Mission Statement

The top priority for the Association of Classroom Teachers, a division of AEA, is to improve the quality of instruction provided boys and girls and teachers in the state of Alabama. The Association will endeavor to improve teacher competencies through conferences, workshops, and instructional strategies. It will
     a. give added strength to the local state, regional, and national professinal organizations through the promotion of unified membership.
     b. stimulate professional growth and leadership.
     c. foster within the schools democratic classroom teacher particiaption in the formulation of educational policies.
     d. encourage teachers to assume their responsibilities as citizens and to exercise their rights and privileges.
     e. work for a higher quality of teaching to promote the welfare of classroom teachers; and to maintain academic freedom

Any K-12 classroom teacher who is a member of the AEA may become a member of the Association of Classroom Teachers upon payment of membership dues. ACT membership dues are $5.00 per year. For more information call Monica Washington at AEA headquarters, 800-392-5839.
