2012 Charter School Survey
Based on the current knowledge of charter schools, almost a half (49%) of Alabama likely voters do not know enough about charter schools to evaluate them, 35% of likely voters support charter schools. When provided information about charter schools, both pro and con, support for charter schools increases from 35% to 39% while opposition to charter schools increases from 16% to 49%. Alabama K-12 teachers are concerned about the future of the teaching profession and the ability of public school systems to keep and to recruit qualified teachers. Teachers believe they are faced with increased expectations, higher standards, and more paperwork at the same time there is a decrease in support, resources and appreciation.
