The Student Alabama Education Association (SAEA) is comprised of college education majors. It conducts two conferences annually with programs designed to help prepare these future educators for their time in the classroom.
Sandra Jackson visits college campuses to keep the members abreast of Association benefits and activities and provide information on Association services to potential members.
The SP director encourages local and state participation of the student members to help develop leadership skills and take advantage of the networking opportunities available through the Association.

Over 100 enthusiastic student members of the Alabama Education Association (SAEA) took a day our from the annual SAEA conference to work at Whitley Elementary School in the Mobile County School System. The annual SAEA conference was held in Mobile, March 6-8, 2009.
As part of the Outreach to Teach Program, students painted, cleaned, organized, planted, and beautified the school that lies within the city limits of Prichard.
Students grabbed paint brushes and paint rolleres and completely painted or touched up several classrooms and areas in the playground while other students spent several hours organizing classroom materials.
Some students helped beautify the school by creating new bulletin boards in many areas of the school. Several rooms and closets were cleaned and reorganized and students picked up litter on the grounds of the school. One group of students dug new flower beds and cleaned existing areas to plant additonal flowers.
While most students were college students, a delegation of high school students from Ashville, who are members of the Future Teachers of Alabama, came to participate in the cleanup and the SAEA meeting.
Members of the Mobile County Education Association were on hand to provide support and luncheon to the volunteers. "This is a wonderful program for students, and to their credit, they truly want to do projects such as this one to give back to the community," said AEA's Director of Student Programs Sandra Jackson. "Working as a team, these students made meaningful contributions to improving the environment of Whitley Elementary School."
