Read

Before Alabama in 2009 and Auburn in 2010, did you know that our state won another national title?

In 2007, Alabama was tops in the country for elementary reading gains!
From 2004 to 2010,RAA Bookmark our state was a national leader for improving early literacy. Congratulation to students and teachers! Congratulations to Alabama and Auburn!

Celebrating our state's reading and football
success is the idea of AEA's 2011 Read Across Alabama, celebrated on Dr. Seuss' birthday Wednesday, March 2.

The theme "Be a Champion! Read!" features the mascots of the past two national college football champions as Dr. Seuss would draw them.

As always, we look forward to your photos of Read Across Alabama events at your school and will continue to print those in the Alabama School Journal beginning in March. All event photos should be emailed to ashleym@alaedu.org. The deadline for photo submissions is March 31, 2011.
