Hundreds attend seminars that strenthen careers and local associations
More than 600 members gathered on the Alabama gulf coast for the Minority Leadership Training Conference, the largest such gathering in the association's history. Members went to training on a variety of topics, ranging from using data in decision making to managing finances and ensuring the safety of students.
"I think that the increase in attendance and the excitement in the seminars shows how valuable this is to members," said Dr. Tyna Davis, Manager of Education Policy and Professional Practice. "Many members paid for the conference themselves, which also shows how important this event is. It just keeps growing year after year."
NEA President Reg Weaver came from Washington to give a powerful speech to the conference participants. "Everyone in the country knows how strong the Alabama Education Association is, and that we look to you as an example of how to organize in other states," said Weaver. "I have great faith in your continued success."
