Online Election Rules and Procedures
Nominations will be accepted beginning October 1, 2009, until 4:45 p.m. on October 30, 2009, for officers and directors of the Administrator Division of AEA. Positions open are president, vice president, secretary, and district directors. The term of office is June 1, 2010, through May 31, 2012. Nomination forms will be available online October 1, 2009 and should be printed, signed, completed, and returned by October 30, 2009 to AEA, P.O. Box 4177, Montgomery, AL, 36103-4177, ATTN: AEA Elections Consultant.

Members must login to access a ballot. The ballot shows only those positions for which you are eligible to vote based upon the AEA district and position code indicated on your membership record. Your vote will be recorded when the Submit button is selected. When a ballot is recorded, a “Thank you for voting” screen appears. Elections rules and a district map continue to be available.

*If you are denied access to a ballot and feel that it may be caused by an outdated position code in your membership record, you may request an update to your membership record. Send an e-mail to Teresa Kelley at teresak@alaedu.org stating your name as it appears on your Alabama School Journal, your individual ID # or your social security number, and your local. Request that the correct (included) job description be added to your record. On the Monday following the corrections to your record by the membership department you should be allowed to vote.
Voting occurs when the 'Submit' button is clicked.
o The voting record is checked to ascertain that the member has not voted previously.
o When a ballot is recorded, a “Thank you for voting” screen appears noting that an email will be sent to the email address on record for that member confirming the receipt of the ballot. The ballot is transmitted encoded for security. The file is retained in the encoded form until results are compiled for the election committee.
