For the 2007-2008 school year, the State Department of Education has pledged that enrollment numbers for every classroom will be posted on their Web site. On the "Class Size Analysis Report" page select the school system and school of interest. After clicking on the View Report button expand the listing for each teacher of interest by clicking on the name or the plus sign next to the name of the teacher. You may then select a format (such as EXCEL) in which to export the report to your own computer.
To report class size data for your school to AEA, complete the attached form with the data for the classes at your school. You should include:
1. the total number of classroom teachers at the school.
2. a separate form for each subject area or grade-level.
3. the subject area or grade-level reported on this form.
4. data for all of the classes for that subject area or grade-level.
5. the TOTAL number of students enrolled in each class for that subject or grade.
6. the number of special needs students included in that total.
When the form is complete, you may
1. print out the completed form,
2. erase the data AFTER printing it by clicking on the RESET button, then complete the form for another subject or grade,
3. and mail the set of completed forms to Amy Marlowe, P. O. Box 4177, Montgomery, AL 36103.
If you would prefer, you may print out the blank form and complete it by hand before mailing it to Mrs. Marlowe at the address above. Please be sure to include the data for all of the classes for a given grade or subject at your school.
If the data from your report reveal classes above the class size caps, we will contact the State Department of Education and pursue the matter. We will contact you by e-mail to let your know of our action - you should then keep us informed as to whether your school system has taken any corrective action to reduce the high class sizes reported to us.
