AEA Administrator Division

Letter from the President

Dear Administrators:

Since 2002, the Alabama Education Association Administrator Division has become an important segment of the membership of AEA. This division has become a strong voice for administrators across the state of Alabama speaking through the voice of AEA. Leadership by administrators is fundamental to providing a great public school for every child. School administrators perform key functions in the maintenance and development of schools, their faculty and their students. They manage school policies, regulations and procedures and also serve as key liaisons in their communities. Educational leaders should ensure that:
• Curricula are effective
• Students are learning and achieving in safe environments
• School employees and teachers are nurtured, mentored, and qualified to lead the next generation
It is important for all administrators to recognize that a united voice allows us to function as educational leaders in our local situation. The strength and direction of AEA provides us with research based professional development programs, legal protection, and representation in the political realm of our state and local government. It is with great pride that I serve this great state education association as your president and an honor to be a member of AEA.

Please understand the importance of the AEA Administrator Division and join and participate with your fellow administrators leading our state to providing a great public school for every child, teacher, support personnel, and individual school system in the state of Alabama.

Sincerely,

Cathy C. McNeal, Ed.D., President
AEA Administrator Division

Principals should schedule classroom management workshop
The I Can Do It! classroom management program is high on priority lists for Alabama’s teachers and administrators. AEA’s Education Policy and Professional Practice Department (EPPP) presents the program at the request of local school principals and has received numerous requests to provide the one-day workshop throughout the state.

The one-day workshop is free for AEA members; the cost for each nonmember is $50. Principals interested in scheduling a workshop should contact Pam Fossett, director of the EPPP Department, at 1-800-392-5839, or by email at pamelaf@alaedu.org.
